When are you going to make the time to write? Do you have a place you can write uninterrupted? Will your family support the time commitment? Does your day job have a moonlighting policy?
Do some dry runs. How are you going to market your book? Get started on laying the groundwork for that early.
Start tweeting and blogging in anticipation. When marketing your book, remember to Always Be Providing Value. Price sanely and fairly. Optimize for the number of sales, and be competitive with others in your genre.
The satisfaction of producing something meaningful and sharing your knowledge with others is worth the effort you are putting in. Writing a book is not easy.
